Product Overview
This formulation combines Artemether (a fast-acting artemisinin derivative) and Lumefantrine (a long-acting synthetic aryl-amino alcohol).

Dosage & Administration

- Dose 2: 8 hours after Dose 1.
- Dose 3 to 6: Twice daily (morning and evening) for the next 2 days.
- Dietary Advice (Critical): Patients are strongly advised to take the medication with a fatty meal (milk, cheese, nuts, oil) to ensure the Lumefantrine is absorbed. On an empty stomach, absorption is very poor.
- Vomiting: If vomiting occurs within 1 hour of dosing, a repeat dose must be taken.
Safety Warnings:
- QT Prolongation: Lumefantrine can prolong the QT interval (heart rhythm). Avoid use with other drugs that affect the heart (like certain anti-arrhythmics or antidepressants).
- First Trimester: Generally avoided in the first trimester of pregnancy unless no alternative is available (WHO guidelines vary; consult local protocols). Safe for 2nd and 3rd trimesters.
