Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Psychiatrist/Physician):

- Adults (Acute Psychosis): 2 mg to 5 mg IM. Can be repeated every hour if necessary, up to a maximum of 10-20 mg/day.
- Children: Not recommended for pediatric use in injection form unless critical (Safety not fully established).
- Geriatric: Lower doses (0.5 mg to 2 mg) are required due to slower metabolism.
Safety Warnings:
- EPS (Extrapyramidal Symptoms): High risk of muscle stiffness, tremors, and dystonia (locking of jaw/neck). Often administered with an anticholinergic (like Biperiden) to prevent this.
- QT Prolongation: Can cause cardiac arrhythmias. Use with caution in cardiac patients.
- NMS (Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome): Rare but fatal reaction characterized by high fever and muscle rigidity. Stop immediately if signs appear.
