Product Overview
This formulation combines an Iron salt (Hemoglobin builder) with Folic Acid (Red Cell & DNA builder).
The “Anemia Defense” Specialist:
- Synergistic Action:
- Iron: Essential for the formation of hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells. It corrects microcytic hypochromic anemia.
- Folic Acid (Vitamin B9): Essential for cell division and DNA synthesis. In pregnancy, it is critical for preventing Neural Tube Defects (like Spina Bifida) in the developing fetus.
- Salt Variations:
- Ferrous Sulphate: The “Gold Standard” for efficacy. It is cost-effective and rapidly absorbed, though it may cause mild gastric irritation.
- Ferrous Fumarate: Contains a higher percentage of elemental iron (33%) by weight compared to sulphate. It is often milder on the stomach and better tolerated by sensitive patients.
- WHO Compliance: Our formulations align with the WHO “Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation” (WIFS) and daily antenatal protocols.
Product Composition & Strength
We supply this product as Sugar Coated Tablets (Red/Brown) or Film Coated Tablets. Sugar coating is traditional to mask the strong metallic taste of iron.

Manufacturing Authority
Marketed and Distributed by Healthy Inc from WHO-GMP & ISO 9001:2015 certified units.
- Oxidation Protection: Ferrous iron ($Fe^{2+}$) is unstable and can oxidize to Ferric iron ($Fe^{3+}$) which is poorly absorbed and causes brown spotting on tablets. Our manufacturing process uses nitrogen purging and antioxidants to maintain the iron in the ferrous state.
- Taste Masking: Iron salts have a pungent, metallic, astringent taste. Our coating technology (Sugar or specialized Film) ensures the patient does not taste the iron upon swallowing, improving compliance.
Therapeutic Indications (Human Use)
Indicated for the prevention and treatment of Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA):
- Pregnancy & Lactation: High demand for iron to support fetal growth and blood volume expansion.
- Nutritional Anemia: Due to poor diet or malabsorption.
- Chronic Blood Loss: Heavy menstruation (menorrhagia) or parasitic infections (hookworm).
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Physician/WHO Guidelines):
- Route: Oral.
- Prophylaxis: One tablet daily (containing 60mg elemental iron).
- Treatment: One tablet 2 to 3 times daily until hemoglobin normalizes.
- Administration Rules (Critical):
- Empty Stomach: Best absorbed 1 hour before meals. However, if gastric upset occurs, take with a light meal.
- Vitamin C: Taking with orange juice enhances absorption.
- Blockers: Avoid tea, coffee, milk, or calcium supplements within 2 hours of the dose (they block iron absorption).
Safety Warnings:
- Black Stools: Iron will turn stools harmlessly black or dark green. Patients should be warned to avoid panic.
- GI Side Effects: Nausea, constipation, or diarrhea are common. Ferrous Fumarate is generally better tolerated than Sulphate.
- Child Safety (FATAL): Iron overdose is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children. Keep out of reach.
