Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dosage (Strictly as per Veterinarian):
- Route: Deep Intramuscular (IM) Only.
- Oxytetracycline LA (20%):
- Dose: 1 mL per 10 kg body weight (20 mg/kg).
- Frequency: Single dose usually sufficient. Can be repeated after 72 hours if necessary.
- Max Volume: Do not inject more than 10-15 mL at a single site to prevent tissue swelling.
- Oxytetracycline Standard (5%):
- Dose: 1 mL per 5-10 kg body weight daily.
- Frequency: Daily for 3 to 5 days.
- Withdrawal Period (For LA):
- Meat: 21-28 Days.
- Milk: 7 Days.
Safety Warnings:
- Tissue Irritation: Can cause temporary swelling and pain at the injection site. Use deep muscle injection.
- Rapid IV Danger: Do not give rapid IV; can cause collapse due to propylene glycol vehicle.
- Young Animals: Use with caution in very young animals as tetracyclines can discolor developing teeth.
