Product Overview
Pantoprazole is a substituted benzimidazole and a potent **Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI)**. It suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell.
It is the “IV Therapy of Choice” when oral therapy is not possible for:
- Severe GERD: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease with erosive esophagitis.
- GI Bleeding: Prevention of re-bleeding following therapeutic endoscopy for acute gastric or duodenal ulcers.
- Hypersecretory Conditions: Pathological hypersecretion associated with Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.
- Stress Ulcer Prophylaxis: Critical care patients in ICUs.

Therapeutic Indications
Indicated for short-term treatment (up to 7-10 days) of:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) with a history of erosive esophagitis.
- Pathological hypersecretory conditions including Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.
- Prophylaxis of acute bleeding from stress ulceration.
Dosage & Administration
Strict Medical Supervision Required (Hospital Use):
- GERD / Ulcers: 40 mg once daily via IV injection (over at least 2 minutes) or IV infusion (over 15 minutes).
- Hypersecretory Conditions: 80 mg every 12 hours. Doses above 240 mg/day should be administered as an infusion.
- Reconstitution: Reconstitute with 10ml of 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection. Use within 12 hours of reconstitution.
Precaution:
- Compatibility: Do not mix with other drugs or infusion fluids other than NS or D5W.
